Florence tour, The basics
Your private English speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel at a pre-determined time for a basic walking tour of the city. Your first stop will be the Piazza del Duomo, where you will visit the typical Italian Gothic Cathedral dedicated to "Santa Maria del Fiore” buit by Filippo Brunelleschi, the Campanile, the bell tower by Giotto and the Baptistery, the most important religious building, dedicated to his patron saint, John the Baptist, characteristic example of the Tuscan Romanesque style. Ponte vecchio, a Medieval closed-spandrel over the Arno River, that still having shops built along it, as jewellers’ , art dealers’ and souvenirs shops. Then you will walk to the Piazza Signoria the ‘political’ stage of Florence, with the prominent Palazzo Vecchio overlooking the square, finally you head over to the Accademia gallery to visit the Statue of David ,other Michelangelo's masterpieces and examples of paintings and sculptures by the great masters of the Florentine 14th and 15th centuries who have made Florence the capital of art.
